Description

Sennheiser MKH 8018Stereo Shotgun Microphone

The MKH 8018 stereo shotgun microphone is an HF condenser microphone with outstanding directivity and authentic spatial imaging. It has symmetrical, acoustically open push-pull transducers. In combination with low-voltage, free-swinging diaphragms, it achieves outstanding sensitivity and a wide transmission range – for sound recordings that are as authentic as possible.

The MKH 8018 can be switched between MS stereo, XY stereo (narrow) and XY stereo (wide), providing a high degree of flexibility when recording. In the MS stereo setting, the MKH 8018 provides a center and a side channel. The width of the stereo image can be adjusted in post-production or on site using a matrix mixer. Alternatively, the MKH 8018 has two matrix modes to output the signals directly to LR without the need for an external mixer. To adapt to the acoustic conditions on site, the microphone can be switched between a wide stereo image (XY-W, wide), in which more ambient sound is recorded, and a narrow stereo image (XY-N, narrow), in which a more focused image with less ambient sound is recorded.

  • Stereo shotgun microphone with outstanding directivity and authentic spatial imaging
  • Three switchable stereo settings: MS stereo, XY stereo (narrow) and XY stereo (wide)
  • Ideal for directional stereo recordings in film and video productions, sports broadcasting and for environmental and nature recordings where spatial sound reproduction is to be achieved with just one microphone
  • Switchable low-cut filter (-3 dB at 70 Hz) reduces wind and handling noise
  • High-quality -10 dB pad protects against clipping
  • Ideal for camera mounting due to its compact design
  • Identical timbre to other microphones in the MKH 8000 series for optimum acoustic compatibility
  • Balanced output signals are available at the earth-free, transformerless output; ideal for low-distortion processing
  • The acoustically open push-pull transducers and the low-voltage diaphragms ensure natural, largely undistorted sound processing
  • The extended bass response allows sound to be recorded in all its fullness; greater freedom in microphone positioning
